Just so you know, they will start priming the walls in ERIT tomorrow so you might encounter some smells and odors associated with that activity:
But the walls are up and mudded so its time. They have installed a venting system to reduce the buildup of fumes, etc.:
Also, this is some of the HVAC work that will ensure a better temperature mix in that area:
And finally a look through the ceiling at all of the new electrical conduit.
No work on Friday, the fun starts again next week.

Moving Right Along
Considerable progress has been made with drywall and the crew even worked the weekend to move forward on drywalling so that painting can begin soon. We've also gotten the furniture officially ordered so hopefully this will come together smoothly in about a month.
Later this week or early next week we are expecting to cut the doors into SCUA that forms the access for egress, painting should start (if you smell the fumes) and then more electical work.

Walls are going up!
The drywall has started going up in ERIT to form the new walls.
There is also HVAC work and electrical work happening at the same time. An interesting note about a tool not used before in our construction projects, this mat helps keep dusty feet from tracking elsewhere in the building. Just wanted to share :-)

Progress Report 3/14
Yesterday the work in the Reading Room on the first floor and in ILL was related to sealing off the radiators that have been removed from ERIT's space on the second floor.
The pipes had to be cleaned and sealed and thus precautions were taken to ensure dust and particles were not released into the air. The air quality in the room was also monitored.
Also, the doors leading into SCUA are sealed for now until they are relocated, this is also to keep down dust.
More new materials have arrived, this is the new vents for the modifications to the HAVC,
And this is what the new walls are starting to look like with conduit and control divices being installed.

New walls up already
Yesterday was a very successful day for our construction project. The demo materials were removed and new building materials brought in and started. They've actually framed out the new walls already:
Work in the first floor reading room mentioned earlier will occur later in the week as well as cutting new doors in the SCUA back areas. "So far so good!"

And the Walls come Tumbling Down
Or at least knocked down and piled up! This week the crew has completed most of the demo in ERIT as demonstrated below:
They are staging the debris in order to hand carry out next week. The plan next week is to carry out the demo'd materials and carry in new materials needed for rebuilding. They will be taking advantage of spring break and will do this using the wider marble monument stairs next to the College Ave. entrance.
So, please avoid those stairs yourself next week in order to accommodate this activity related to the project.
